 1955 Mercedes "Adenauer" 300b W186 Saloon

A new addition, a 1955 Mercedes "Adenauer" 300b W186 Saloon. In a sad "project" condition, but the price reflected that. It is for restoration by the "Benz Shed" in Ballarat Victoria, from whom I purchased it. Hopefully ready by December 2021, nine months from now.

The 300 series saloon was the top of Mercedes's line from 1951 to 1957. An expensive, luxurious, high performance, partially handcrafted competitor to Rolls Royce.

The engine was shared with the iconic "Gullwing" SL roadster of the same era, with a different head and carburettors.

The car was in pieces when The Benz Shed acquired it early in 2021. The chrome pieces are just sitting for the photo. The yellow paint may be a primer. The original colour was black. There are recent coats of grey primer. It will probably get a bare-metal repaint.

The red interior is in very good original condition. Most of the woodwork has been refinished and awaits reassembly.

What it will look like when finished if I use the original black colour.
